Media bias against Republicans

“When popular Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz, the GOP nominee for Senate, took the stage, MSNBC cut away from the Republican National Convention and the Hispanic Republican from Texas’ speech.

MSNBC stayed on commercial through former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis’ speech, as well. Davis, who recently became a Republican, is black. Then, when Puerto Rican Governor Luis Fortuno’s wife Luce’ Vela Fortuño took the stage minutes later, MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews opted to talk over the First Lady’s speech. And Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval? Noticeably missing from MSNBC, too. Mia Love, a black candidate for Congress in Utah, was also ignored by MSNBC.”

Tax cut armageddon

Obama wants to raise taxes on everyone making over $250,000 / year by letting the Bush tax cuts that affect them expire. He also wants to leave in place the REST of the Bush tax cuts for everyone else for 1 year.
People have estimated the ‘cost’ of the tax cuts at $2.9 Trillion over 10 years… and if Obama has his wish the ‘cost’ will drop to $2.1 Trillion over 10 years.  Obviously the majority of the $’s from the tax cuts go to the poor and middle class.

By letting that segment of the tax cuts expire… the country is estimated to gain $800 Billion in revenue over 10 years. $80 Billion / year.
Obama’s yearly deficit is $1.4 Trillion. Nearly DOUBLE per year what is expected to be gained over 10 YEARS. Obama has ALSO stated that the revenue generated will NOT go towards the US debt… but instead will fund other programs.

How does that make economic sense? How is that NOT evidence of class warfare?

In response to the Republicans standing firm on not letting the tax cuts expire for the ‘wealthy’, the Democrats have threatened to allow ALL the tax cuts to expire.

Democrats say they are willing to let the poorest tax payers suffer a 50% increase in their taxes in an effort to force the ‘wealthy’ to pay more.

(Here’s a great calculator to show you the effects on your taxes)

Gas… lining the government pocket

I found a very interesting article today.  It’s not new information… but it’s all laid out nice and neat.

Long story short… for a gallon of gas @ $3.27 the oil companies make approximately $.08 while the government makes $.39.

The government is taking in 5X the money that the oil companies do.

Gay marriage to Mormonism

“President Obama’s move to embrace same-sex marriage sets an unmistakable tone for the general election: Democrats don’t feel the need to fear social issues, even ones that have been conservative lynchpins in years past.”–abc-news-politics.html

Interestingly… there has been a lot of comments from the left concerning Mitt Romney’s Mormonism… yet if they (liberals) agree with gay marriage how can they possibly have a problem with multi-partner marriages?

Obama Saving $ for businesses?

“The Obama administration announced today it has changed or eliminated five regulations, saving the economy an estimated $6 billion.

President Obama also signed a new executive order “making it a continuing obligation of our government to scrutinize rules on the books to see if they really make sense,” said a White House statement.”

Mr. President… the Republican held House has passed (with bipartisan support) 12+ bills to help the economy.  Senator Reid refuses to allow them to the Senate floor.  Perhaps you should be working with your Democrat constituent and get those passed!

Trayvon tragedy

“…Several witnesses heard those cries, and there has been a dispute about whether they came from Zimmerman or Trayvon.

Lawyers for Trayvon’s family say it was Trayvon, but police say their evidence indicates it was Zimmerman.

One witness, who has since talked to local television news reporters, told police he saw Zimmerman on the ground with Trayvon on top, pounding him — and was unequivocal that it was Zimmerman who was crying for help.

Zimmerman then shot Trayvon once in the chest at very close range, according to authorities.

When police arrived less than two minutes later, Zimmerman was bleeding from the nose, had a swollen lip and had bloody lacerations to the back of his head.

Paramedics gave him first aid but he said he did not need to go to the hospital. He got medical care the next day.”

“…”If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said, underscoring how the issue affected him on a personal, and not just a political or legal, level. “I think [Trayvon’s parents] are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”…”

Make no mistake… when something results in the unintended death of another it’s a tragedy.  But is Obama jumping on this wagon too soon again?  Is this another James Crowley incident?  No chance of a ‘beer summit’ for this.

“Students taking college entrance exams this fall will have to submit photo IDs with their applications…”

Don’t you dare require it to vote though… that’s racist.

What a joke.  Take $1 Billion of the many wasted by our government and pay for the IDs.  Anyone growing up here has one… anyone coming here legally has one… It would be a small cost to pay for the few LEGAL people who slip through the cracks.

Gas Prices

I know the President does not set the price. I also know that his influence is not large… but it does exist.

Apparently Obama knows that too but chooses to do nothing about it.

“The White House can’t complain too much about taking the blame for high gas prices. While campaigning for president in 2008, Obama castigated President George W. Bush over the same issue. “You’re paying nearly $3.70 a gallon for gas—2 1/ 2 times what it cost when President Bush took office,” he told a crowd in Ohio at the time.”
