Gas Prices

I know the President does not set the price. I also know that his influence is not large… but it does exist.

Apparently Obama knows that too but chooses to do nothing about it.

“The White House can’t complain too much about taking the blame for high gas prices. While campaigning for president in 2008, Obama castigated President George W. Bush over the same issue. “You’re paying nearly $3.70 a gallon for gas—2 1/ 2 times what it cost when President Bush took office,” he told a crowd in Ohio at the time.”

  1. I wonder what policies (or lack of response to new opportunities) have led to the skyrocket? Also, it seems without fail that we hear every spring that prices will soar over the summer. It’s just become expected. They always go UP and never come DOWN. All I know is whenever gas prices rise, the cost of living soon follows…

  2. Well… this Administration has reduced drilling on public lands. Even before Obama was elected he said that high gas prices were a necessary part of his energy policy to push alternative energy. It does go up every spring… we’ll see what the prices look like mid-summer. They were under $2.00/gallon as GWBush was leaving office.
