McChrystal not a yes-man?

“President Barack Obama ousted Gen. Stanley McChrystal as the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan on Wednesday, saying that his scathing published remarks about administration officials undermine civilian control of the military and erode the needed trust on the president’s war team.”

Now, I haven’t read the Rolling Stones article… but from all that the news media has reported, I see nothing that would call for him to be fired if he’s getting the job done.  Of course, Obama seems insistent on surrounding himself with yes-men.  McChrystal was obviously NOT a yes-man… but he was doing a good job and had the support of Afghanistans political leaders… and that is a VERY important thing.  Hopefully Petreaus is able to garner that same support.

Afghan officials said Wednesday that firing Gen. Stanley McChrystal would disrupt progress in the war and could jeopardize a pivotal security operation under way in Taliban strongholds in the south.”

It’s too bad really… you never get a full picture if you refuse to hear any opposing views.
