AZ bill…

“In a showy display of solidarity, President Barack Obama welcomed Mexican President Felipe Calderon to the White House on Wednesday and pledged cooperation on immigration, a violent drug war and economic struggles on both sides of the border.

Looming over Calderon’s state visit is Arizona’s controversial immigration law, which makes it a crime under state law to be in the U.S. illegally.”

Uh… last time I checked… being here illegally was… ::shhh, don’t tell anyone::  ILLEGAL!!!

How is it that a law that enforces that is wrong?  Especially when the law makes it very clear that discrimination is unacceptable (and costly if you do discriminate).

Nowhere does this bill state it’s illegal for Mexicans to be in the country illegally.  (just typing that makes me laugh)

Nowhere does this bill state it’s illegal for Canadians to be in the country illegally.  (::chuckle::)

Nowhere does this bill state it’s illegal for Jews to be in the country illegally.  (::guffaw::)

The bill states that it’s illegal for ANYONE to be in the country illegally.  (Is that even grammatically correct?!?)

ANYONE. Even those little green aliens the government has in its secret lab… if they entered the country illegally… the illegality of it doesn’t magically disappear.

If the Federal Government would enforce the immigration laws (you know, those laws that make them illegal to be in the country) then the states wouldn’t have to have such redundant laws on the books.

Get with it Obama!  Get with it Congress!
